The EU has pledged to adopt at least 14% renewable fuels by 2021, and some member States have even reached 20%.
Since 2009, the EU Renewable Energy Directive(RED) has come into force, and EU Member States need to translate the RED into national laws and formulate plans to promote renewable energy. RED is the driving force for renewable energy across the EU market, requiring the transport sector to use at least 10% renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. REDII provides for an increase to 14% by 2030. Renewable energy products need to comply with the RED when they are sold in EU countries.
Compared with the 7% blending limit of the first generation biodiesel currently active in the market, the second generation biodiesel HVO can reach 100% blending ratio, which can be directly used in automobile engines and will gradually replace the market share of the first generation biodiesel.
Green Carbon has successfully obtained the ISCC EU certification.ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate) is a certification system for sustainability, traceability and greenhouse gas management of raw materials and products. Its goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable use of land, protection of nature and biosphere, so as to achieve sustainable development of society. ISCC can be used in all EU member States to prove that their fuels comply with the RED , which must be passed before biofuels can enter the EU market. Green Carbon has obtained ISCC certification.
Greenhouse gas refers to the natural and anthropogenic gaseous components in the atmosphere that absorb and re-emit infrared radiation, including more than 30 gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide, chlorofluorocarbons and ozone, which are transparent to solar short-wave radiation (absorb very little) and strongly absorb long-wave radiation.The six greenhouse gases in the Kyoto Protocol are carbon dioxide (CO2); Methane (CH4); Nitrous oxide (N2O); Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs); Perfluorocarbons (PFCs); Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6).
